Oil doesn'tage well.

Most botanical hair oil is close to a year old by the time you open it. Flora Kasa is pressed and blended in small batches in the Bay Area, California, and every bottle carries the week it was made.

The problem with cheap oil isn't the price.

Botanical oils oxidize. That's chemistry, not marketing — unsaturated fats react with oxygen, light and heat, and the clock starts the day the seed is pressed. Ship a bottle across an ocean, clear customs, warehouse it, sit it on a shelf, and a lot of what you paid for is already gone. You usually can't see it. Sometimes you can smell it.

We blend about 200 bottles at a time and print the week on each one. The glass is dark amber because light is the other half of the problem. If a bottle sits too long, it doesn't ship.

Eight botanicals. Nothing to pad the bottle.

No mineral oil, no added fragrance, no silicone. Every ingredient in here is doing a job, and the ones your grandmother would recognise are near the top of the list, not the bottom.

Amla

Phyllanthus emblica

Indian gooseberry, the backbone of hair oiling for centuries. Rich in vitamin C and polyphenols.

Bhringraj

Eclipta alba

Called the king of herbs for hair in Ayurvedic practice. Infused into the base rather than added as an extract.

Brahmi

Bacopa monnieri

A traditional companion to bhringraj in scalp preparations, valued for its conditioning feel.

Rosemary

Rosmarinus officinalis

Kept deliberately low. High essential-oil loads irritate scalps rather than help them.

Jojoba

Simmondsia chinensis

A liquid wax ester, structurally close to the scalp's own sebum. Absorbs without sitting on top.

Castor

Ricinus communis

Heavy, slow, and traditional. Cut with lighter oils so it spreads instead of clinging.

A pre-wash ritual, not a leave-in.

This is oiling the way it's been done for a long time. Sunday night, an hour before a wash, or overnight if you can stand a pillowcase.

Warm it

Decant a small amount and warm it between your palms, or stand the dropper in a mug of hot water for a minute. Warm oil spreads further and feels better.

Part and massage

Part in sections and work it into the scalp with your fingertips, not your nails. Give it four or five minutes. The massage is not the optional part.

Leave, then wash

An hour minimum, overnight if you like. Shampoo twice. Once or twice a week is the whole routine — more often isn't better.

What we say, and what we won't.

This category runs on promises nobody can keep. We would rather draw the line ourselves and let you decide where you stand.

What Flora Kasa is for

  • Thicker, fuller-looking hair
  • Helping reduce breakage
  • A conditioned, balanced-feeling scalp
  • Strands that feel stronger to the touch

What we won't claim

  • That it regrows hair
  • That it treats hair loss or any condition
  • That it works the same for everyone
  • That there's a clinical trial behind it — there isn't one yet, and we'll say so the day there is
